Tell us more about who you are and what you do!

Hi JBD community. My name is Meghan Rose, I am an intuitive Astrologer and columnist at Glamour Magazine. I am also the new host of the Star-Crossed podcast and membership, giving me a chance to connect more in-depth with my community each month. It's hard to say who I am, because what I do for work and who I am in my private life feel so different. I am a lover, a writer, a world-traveler, a vinyl record collector, a cat mom, and a Virgo sun with a Scorpio moon and a Taurus rising. I currently live in Los Angeles, but I work with clients and brands around the world, which I believe helps me to better understand my life, other people, and the world that we exist in by being connected to people who are so different from me every day.

What are some astrological themes arising this season?

We are about to embark into Aries season on March 20th, which is also the day of the Astrological New Year, and our Spring Equinox. This season is an incredible time to take risks, bet on yourself, listen to your gut instincts, and be more bold than ever before. Aries season is only with us from March 20-April 19 when the sun is in Aries, however, Spring in general is major for us from an astrological standpoint. This year our eclipses fall on the Pisces-Virgo axis, with our first round of eclipses on March 14th (Full Moon Lunar eclipse in Virgo) and March 29th (New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aries). The September eclipses will be in Pisces and Virgo respectively, but these in the Spring usher us out of the Aries-Libra axis and onto the Pisces-Virgo axis. This essentially tells us the theme of the year, and this year it is releasing perfection in pursuit of authenticity and soulful existence.

Later in March on the 30th, Neptune (our planet of spirituality, dreams, art, and fashion) enters Aries, welcoming fresh thoughts and approaches to what everyone is creating. Aries is confident and brash, meaning the media, music, and fashion of the next 14 years will be more risky, bratty, and fun than nostalgic (that yearning for the past from Neptune in Pisces 2011-now has given us Y2K, 90's and 2000's influence, and remakes from the past).

The final transit I want us to touch upon for the Spring season is when Saturn (the planet of restrictions, karma, and lessons) shifts from Pisces into Aries on May 24th. I encourage those reading this to lean into authenticity, independent thought, setting your own trends rather than following them, and being more confident in your self-expression than ever before this Spring and beyond!

What is a common misconception about astrology you would like to debunk?

That you are just your "sun sign". Even if you are a Virgo with perfectionist tendencies, or an indecisive Libra, that's not all of who you are. Looking into your full birth chart, or working with an astrologer who can help you to learn about all of your planetary placements is a huge cheat code. I try to cover a lot of these topics about your personal placements, understanding your moon sign, and so much more on my newsletter Star-Crossed.. and will start to cover more and more of these topics on my Star-Crossed podcast! But for now, try to learn about your Big 3 (Sun, Moon, and Rising sign) to understand yourself, and once you've started to understand that layer, dive deeper into the Big 6 (S/M/R + Mars, Mercury, Venus). There's a lot to uncover about who you are, and your sun sign is just a tiny blip of who you are, what you're destined to do in this lifetime, how you feel or express yourself, and so much more.

For those looking to get into astrology more, what are some resources you would recommend for beginners?

My newsletter Star-Crossed is a great resource and it's reader-generated, meaning that my subscribers can submit questions and topics to be answered. But I also really love the following resources:
-Planets in Transit by Robert Hand
-Planets in Aspect by Robert Pelletier
-Love Signs by Linda Goodman
-Relationship Signs by Linda Goodman

These are all incredible books that have really helped me to become a better horoscope writer, predictor, and understander of Astrology over time. I also highly recommend finding a mentor that can help you understand Astrology in actionable ways - my mentors, Dawn and Mike, both found me at different times in my life and helped me to learn how to relate to Astrology in a way that was approachable, fun, and encouraging! I try to do the same with my podcast now, and my 1:1 clients, but can't recomment choosing someone who resonates with you and your heart in order to inspire you into learning.

What new projects are you working on?

I've been having a blast setting up my Star-Crossed membership through the newsletter (offering 1:1 readings to paying subscribers, monthly Astrology workshops, premium horoscopes, personal essays, and more), the Star-Crossed Podcast (Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Youtube), and just recently found out that we got the green light for a book of poetry that dives deeper into my "Love Letters to the Signs" series from TikTok. I'm busy, but inspired, and hope to keep giving my community more and more of what they want as this unfolds!

It's International Women's Day this month, who is a woman in your life that inspires you and why?

I'm really inspired by my mom, Donna. She has just ventured into becoming a sound healer and a reiki practitioner and is now helping hundreds of people venture into a more relaxed, aligned, and inspired state of being. I grew up with her, being born when she was only 26, and being 30 myself now with no children, I realize how young that actually is to lead a little human through life!

Her second act and these new roles she has stepped into has really reaffirmed to me that you only get better, wiser, and more authentic as life goes on. Her mantra throughout my life has always been to "ride the high" and it reminds me to stay present, open, and in the mode of receiving when life is good. Like the waves of the ocean, there will be periods of being up as well as being down, but I love that statement and come back to it often when self-doubt or fear creep in and it helps me to remind myself that I deserve the goodness that comes my way -- as does everyone else. I hope that her words can find a home in your heart, too, and help you to "ride the high" the next time you catch one of life's waves.

AOC and Kamala Harris are both close runner-ups in the inspiration department to my mom. I just love watching women be proud, outspoken, strong, loving, and "for the people". We all deserve to have our voices heard and our thoughts shared, and all of these women remind me of that each day.

How do you like to style Just Black Denim jeans?

If I could wear Just Black Denim jeans to bed, I would. Their jeans are my absolute go-to's for nearly all of my outfits now. I love the Donna flare for a sexy night out, my seamed barrel jeans with a tight top and an edgy jacket when I'm feeling powerful and want to make a statement, and my super wide leg jeans when I opt out of bringing a purse and need a little extra pocket space in the back for phone/keys/wallet.
