Meet Kristen, Founder + Botanical Perfumer of Muse Apothecary.
Kristen Flores is the Founder and Botanical Perfumer of Muse Apothecary, as well as a Flower Essence Therapist. For over 15 years she has worked in the botanical wellness space and is focused on creating plant-based products to encourage self-care rituals.
What led you to start Muse Apothecary?
Muse Apothecary was created from my passion with nature and sharing botanical rituals for self-care practices in the wellness community. Muse Apothecary is a botanical studio curating beauty, body and home-care rituals for daily wellbeing.
We love the ethos and values behind your brand. Can you share more about why sourcing quality and sustainable botanicals is important to you?
Not only is sourcing high quality ingredients and sustainable botanicals essential to building the foundation of Muse Apothecary, but it's also essential for our planet. Our relationship with the botanical world was founded on building relationships with small batch flower farms, plant-based production and Made in USA manufacturing. At Muse, our goal is to educate and support our growing community with plant-based rituals that are both beneficial for self-care and community-care
What is a daily self-care ritual you can't live without?
A daily self-care ritual I can't live without is my morning tea practice. I take some time each morning to boil water and drink a morning bowl of tea in silence. This elemental meditation helps me to balance, center and ground my awareness before the day begins.
By definition, what is a muse?
The Muse is a sensualist and is most at home in atmospheres that are natural, artful, and elementally evocative.
Who is your current muse and why?
My current Muse is Aphrodite. Aphrodite is an ancient Greek goddess associated with love, beauty, pleasure, passion and fertility. She was syncretized with the Roman goddess Venus. Aphrodite's major symbols include myrtles, roses, doves, shells and swans. The planet of love, romance, money, beauty, and art, your natal Venus speaks to the way you express your desires, your passions, what you value, and how you relate to and experience pleasure.
What place in nature inspires you the most?
The Sea.
